The three channel SPC Pulse is the world's first pulse logger designed specifically for energy and carbon management. Its unique 'auto-sensing' inputs make for foolproof hook up even onto polarised meter outputs, and its dedicated software package 'PowerPackPro' is perfectly tailored for the job. Its connection cables convert easily to mate with meter specific sockets, and we keep all the commonly encountered cable types in stock. The unit is small, light and compact, but also tough and water resistant withstand years of professional use.

The SPC Pulse is suitable for logging any kind of meter, measuring any utility (gas/water/electricity etc) but connecting to meter pulse outputs is not always straightforward because many types use an 'electronic' as opposed to electromechanical output style. The electronic output is usually 'polarised' so the operator has to ensure the logger is connected the 'right way round' or no pulses will be detected. This can be difficult to assess with a non-intelligent logger, but with the SPC Pulse it's easy. The unit automatically detects the meter output polarity and automatically adjusts its own polarity to suit. Its detection circuits are highly sensitive so it can be used on all kinds of pulse output even where short duration of high contact resistance would normally cause problems.

The unit features a rechargeable Li-Ion battery for maximum survey length and minimum recharge times, whilst remaining light and compact. Surveys of up to six weeks are no problem with the SPC Pulse. The unit looks the part too… housed in a weather resistant piano black 'Peli' case it comes in a neat zip-up case complete with a set of high quality connection cables.

PowerPackPro is more than just another data logger software package. This one is designed so that energy managers and engineers can create effective graphs and reports instantly, and save money and reduce their carbon footprint from day one. Specifically created for the SPC range, PowerPackPro connects instantly to the SPC Pulse via a USB link, so you are up and running in seconds, and it also provides seamless and automatic conversion of all utility data into energy and carbon (where applicable) and into cost (which is unfortunately always applicable!)

PowerPackPro is a 'task oriented' package, so even if you are not an expert in utility monitoring it will always guide you in the right direction so that you will achieve accurate reporting first time, every time. It provides full set-up and user-control for the SPC Pulse allowing you to define your survey period and/or data storage rate as well as providing a battery condition indicator and clock set function. The memory can be configured to "stop when full" or "wrap" for continuous logging if desired.

Once data have been downloaded from the logger, PowerPackPro does a lot more than simple graphing. Most importantly, it guides you through the conversion of 'as measured data' to energy, cost and carbon equivalent values. For example, if your gas data is in cubic feet or cubic meters (as it almost always is) PowerPackPro will automatically convert it using you’re the correct calorific value, tariff and carbon equivalent factors. Graphs are fully 'zoomable' in both axes, and have automatic scaling so your results are always effectively presented. Our unique data conversion routines ensure that derived values are always as accurate as possible, and also include all relevant set-up information on any reports that are created.

The SPC Pulse ships with everything you need including a set of ‘universal’ fork type connection leads. However, if you need to hook up to a meter with a specific type of output connector, rather than a pair of screw terminals, you’re going to need the right cable!

We can’t guarantee to be able to supply cables for every type of meter connector out there, but we’ve got most of them covered. We hold the common ones in stock, and we can usually make up the uncommon ones. Prices start at £12.95.

However, to be sure that we supply you with the right thing, these special cable aren’t available online. Please give us a call or send an email with as much detail as you can provide on the meter type and the general appearance of the pulse output socket (rectangular, round, 2 pin etc) and we will do our best to help.
